Potential savings

You could save on your electric bill

Most households

Most participating households save about 10% on the electricity covered by the program.

Actual savings depend on program qualification, electricity usage, and project availability.

How you save

Your electricity stays the same. The price can be lower.

1.Your utility continues delivering electricity to your home.

2.Your utility applies credits from a shared community solar project.

3.SolScribe bills you for that electricity at a lower rate.

The difference is what you save.

What is this program?

Community solar—without panels on your roof

Community solar lets many households benefit from electricity produced by a shared solar project. You do not install equipment, replace your utility, or change how electricity reaches your home.

Most people will not notice any difference at home. The change appears on the billing side, where program credits and discounted electricity create the savings.

Common questions

What people usually want to know

Do I need solar panels?

No. Nothing is installed on your home.

Will my electricity be interrupted?

No. Your utility continues delivering electricity just as it does now.

Will I receive more than one bill?

Yes. Your utility continues sending its bill, which includes the program credits. SolScribe sends a separate bill for the discounted electricity associated with those credits.

Does checking commit me to anything?

No. Checking whether the program may work for your household is free.

Why I created this website

A clear answer, not a sales pitch

Community solar can be confusing.

I created The Save Project to explain the program in plain language so New Mexicans can decide whether it is right for them.

If I think the program can save you money, I am happy to help you enroll. If I do not, I will tell you that too.
